Welcoming our Baby Avery

So I decided now that we have a beautiful baby girl, I actually have something to blog about!
So here it is.... Avery's Birth Story


So as many know I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma when I was 15 years old. After I was told I was Cancer free it came back 6 months later. I had many doctors tell me due to the chemotherapy my chances of having kids were slim to none. But I had faith that I would be able to be a mother someday, I just didn't know when it would be.

Skyler and I got married in March of 2012. From the beginning of our marriage we knew we wanted children and started to try to get pregnant. After many months of being disappointed, a year later we found out we were finally pregnant!! I can not even express the joy i was feeling at this time in my life! All my fear was finally gone and in just 8 more months I was finally going to me a mother.

Now as much as i wanted to be pregnant.... being pregnant wasn't very fun... the first 3 months consisted of me not eating or drinking pretty much anything but sprite (only thing that didn't make me want to die). But once I hit that second trimester the nausea faded away and heartburn took its place.... then when the third trimester came along we added back pain to the mix. But i knew all of it would be worth it once my baby girl was here.

Averys due date was December 3rd, and when that day came.... it just kept on going. The next night (Decmber 4th) I decide to finish Avery's nursery, and finish cleaning my house. Skyler and I went to bed that night for me only to wake up at 1:00 in the morning with one of the most horrible pains I had ever felt. I went to the bathroom, tried to calm myself down and not get my hopes up. I jumped back in bed trying to get myself to fall back asleep... but boy was that impossible. My contractions were now 4 minutes apart. I began to bawl and decided it was probably a good idea to wake skyler up so we could get ready to go to the hospital because I was positive I was going to die.

We get to the hospital and they check us into a room they check and I am dilated to a 1 (This was progress from being dilated to a 0 on Avery's due date). We waited an hour with having contractions every 3-4 minutes just for her to check me and me be still a 1.... I was devastated. The nurse told us she wanted to do an ultrasound though because Avery's heart rate was dropping after some of the contractions. After the ultrasound they thought it best that they got my labor going so that there wasn't any complications.

I was moved to another room and hooked up to the pitocin... not even 5 minutes later my water broke. It was a good thing they hadn't sent me home! And then started the waiting game. By now it was 6:00 and my contractions were 10 times worse then what I thought was the worst pain ever.. at 8:00 they came and gave me my epidural because my contractions were 3 minutes apart and felt like someone was breaking my back! 12:00 rolled around and I had only dilated to "almost" a 3... I was sure I wasn't going to have this baby until the next day!! The nurse came back at 2:00 and decided to check me again, and good thing she did because the baby was ready to come out!

The nurse said she would be right back to get the delivery going, so I decided to sit up and fix my hair (i had extremely bad bed head!) And this is were it got scary.. As soon as I sat up I got extremely nauseated and dizzy.. I could barely hear what people were saying telling me i was as pale as could be. the nurses ran in and began to say things I couldn't understand and all of a sudden the room was full of people running. Most of it is a blur to me, but I guess both mine and the baby's heart rate had dropped below 100 and they thought the umbilical cord was wrapped around Avery's neck. They laid me down shifted my body and got Avery to shift and gave me oxygen. After this everything started to go back to normal. This was the most terrifying feeling I had ever had. I had no idea what was going on or if everything was going to be ok. Luckily all worked out.

A few minutes later after letting me recuperate from this the nurse came in and I started to push. 40 minutes later the doctor is handing me my precious baby girl. This is the best feeling I have ever felt. After 9 months of preparing to be handed the one thing that would change my life forever, it was finally here. Skyler and I were parents in this very moment. The second I saw my baby girl I knew I loved her with my whole heart and was the most blessed person in the world to have the opportunity to be a mother and Skyler a father.

It has been almost 6 weeks since Avery was born and though it can be hard at times, I wouldn't trade being a mother for anything. Even though she may cry and I may be exhausted, as soon as she smiles or falls asleep in my arms it makes everything worth it. I looked forward to seeing her grow older, start crawling and then walking and talking, but for now im going to enjoy the little things like waking up in the middle of the night and staring into her little eyes staring right back at me.

                                

                

 

                                          

A little more of our lives

So I think im still a little confused on how the heck to post things on a blog because it seems to never look the way I want it to (Any advice?). Well atleast im trying right? So here is a few more things Skyler and I have been up to since we said our I do's!

So a few weekends ago I decided to through a Minute to Win It Night at our house, and oh boy was it fun! Even though our house is a little small we still had a blast eating cookies, bouncing balloons, chopping some fruit, and showing off how flexible we are!! This will be the first night of many to come hopefully :)

This was a FANTASTIC day!! :) Skyler and I both had work off for the 4th and it was Skyler's BIRTHDAY!!!! He is now the big 22! (I'm pretty much married to a old man) We celebrated his birthday by having a big birthday breakfast in his honor, followed by a day of swimming, food, food, oh and more food!!! Than we watched the amazing 4th of july firework show! (but shhhh.....I told skyler the fireworks are for his birthday not for the 4th of july) 

This was a big day in our lives! We finally decided to expand our family and buy some fish :) Their names were (were is used because skyler's fish killed my fish...) Comet and Ajax! we are a little cheesy and name our babies after cleaning supplies, but I loved there names! Skyler's fish is the blue one and mine is the gold fish. We decided we needed some fish to see if we are responsible enough to have kids... obviously not because we had 2 now we only have 1... (Good practice though right?)

We finally went on our first boating adventure together this summer (this being a first in the seven years we have known each other) It was a blast! We tubed, sat on the beach, wake boarded, swam, and got our tans on! By the end of the day we were EXHAUSTED!! Skyler was pretty much dead at the end of the day because he smacked his head pretty hard falling off the tube (Which scared me to death because I want children!! haha oh and because I would die without him!) 

Over all of this last almost 5 months of marriage I'd say we have been making the best of it. We try our best to work hard, but at the same time have some time for fun! We want to thank everyone that has helped us get through these months of marriage (Because marriage though amazing can be hard at some times). We love each and everyone of you :) 

So we're married... Now what?

So im pretty much the worst blogger in the whole world. I decided to do one so that I didnt feel as bad for not writing in a journal (Cause its kind of the same thing right?) well here I am weeks later and havent posted anything since I made my Blog... (Yeah you can call me the worst blogger ever) But im determined to put some more post up (so that when I have kids I can be like look look me and daddy used to be fun!! ;) haha)

So me and Skyler have been doing lots of fun and exciting things lately! We have gone camping, hiking, sunset watching, dancing (in our living room of course),  and so many more fun and exciting things! Here is just a little glimps into a few of our adventures! :)

      So my moms side of my family has these great family reunions every other year and this year I was finally one of the married couples :) (Wont lie i was super excited about this). Even though Skyler has been a part of my family for several years now he had his first experience as an actually member in our family reunion.  This year we went to the rec center and played games, rock climbed, went swimming, and just plain enjoyed being a family! I love family reunions and can't wait till the next one (Maybe with another member of the family on the way?? never know!)

So, even though I say it all the time .. I LOVE MY HUSBAND!! He planned the most perfect date for us! We went to Cafe Rio (One of my most favorite places!) and than drove out past sand hollow res.

and watched as the sunset, after which we did sparklers and watched the stars! Can I say GOOD JOB to Skyler or what! I truly was impressed :)

Even though this wasn't a very fun adventure, it was an adventure non-the-less! Having my 3 year check up and having skyler be there with me when they told me i was cancer free, Dare I say one of the best experiences of my life!! I think he loved watching them poke me and make me sit in weird machines! but i still love him!

This weekend was AMAZING! It was the first time ive taken work off since i started my new job! This weekend we had the opportunity to see skyler's sister get married in the temple for all time and eternity :) it was WONDERFUL! I got all into her gift (Because her and her husband are awesome and they deserved something great!) So i put together a date basket, it had a movie and games, money, and a jar full of date ideas! I was pretty proud of myself for putting it together :) 

Also while up in Salt Lake we of course had to hit one of skylers favorite food places a wing place called wing coop... I had HUGE expectations and oh boy were they met! If you havent ever been there I highly recommend it! They have a big variety of different sauces to get in different spices! (Im a huge spice person and it was the perfect amount of spice!)

We also got to see a chineese dragon wedding show! It was extremely interesting, and even though it was pretty much snowing ashes on us from the huge fires going on, it was still a great cultural learning experience for us :)

So I didnt get through all that i wanted to put on this post but I guess that gives me a reason to have to get back on and blog again (I dont know if thats a good or bad thing :/  ....) But Skyler and I are loving every second of being together spending time with each others families and being a family of our own :)
